House Mice

Did you know that House Mice are the most common mammal in the U.S. Its no shock that lots of homeowners in the U.S. have reported having these infestations in their home. You may think they are cute and harmless, you are wrong.

Can you guess how many homes are estimated to get invaded by mice each winter ? 21 million homes in the United States! They love to enter your home between October and February. This is the time that they are seeking out food and warm shelter to survive.
Mice tend to build their homes near a food source because they love to eat so much. Even though they are tiny they eat between 15-20 times a day.

In a lab setting mice are said to be able to live for up to two years. While in the wild they are exposed to predators such as snakes and foxes. Constantly being hunted they may only live for about 5 months.

Mice can spread diseases such as salmonella. This is just the start, they can actually carry more than 200 human pathogens.

Amazingly a female mouse can start to give birth at just two months old. They have a dozen babies every three weeks. When you do the math that is at least 150 babies in one whole year

Silverfish

Have you seen  a silvery metallic insect in your home, that happens to look fish like in shape? Those are called silverfish. They are known for their 3 long bristle like appendages on their rear. These silverfish can be found in moist, humid areas of your home.

You can find that these insects are silver / brown like in color. A silverfish's body is elongated, with 6 little legs .  They have antennas, no those are not extra legs. Their body size typically runs at 3/4 of a inch. WOW, that is very small !

These insects do not have wings, but that does not slow them down. They are very fast runners.
Keep an eye out for feeding marks. These marks may be irregular whether they are holes, notches, or surface etchings. Yellow stains ,scales, and feces may also be sign of infestation.

Don't delay to call us if you have suspected your home is falling victim to these little insects.
