Centipedes have been around for years. The first time they were to be reported was 1849 in Pennsylvania. Today they are found throughout the United States. They can annoy you, but are not a threat to health. Centipedes have so many legs allowing them to move with fast speed. Having so many legs gave them the nickname "hundred leggers". Even though they don't bite, Centipedes have poison glands and a way to inject venom. During the day they like to hide. At night they come to hunt silverfish, roaches, spiders and other creatures. To some their look may be scary, but they do not want to cause harm.
Centipedes are said to have 15 to 177 pairs of legs. That's a lot of legs. These legs are long and flat , the may even seem worm at first glance. The colors can range from dark brown to a yellowish color. Some centipedes have darker stripes on their body.
These animals are more active during the night then during the day. They prefer places like your bathroom, crawlspaces, and potted plants. Other places they can be found are rotting logs, under rocks, even your trash !

Mosquitoes will usually fly 1 to 1.5 miles per hour. Salt marsh mosquitoes can and will migrate up to 40 miles for one meal. Don't Bring Home Bedbugs From Your Holiday Vacation With These Tips !
On a Holiday trip you think of everything but bedbug precautions. Follow these steps to keep your family clear of bedbugs while traveling.
ALWAYS! Check Your Hotel Room Well...
When you first enter your hotel room before you get comfortable CHECK YOUR ROOM! Until the room has been completely checked make sure that you leave all of your luggage on the bathroom tile. When inspecting you should have good lighting. Look closely at the seams of the mattress and all bedding. You will be looking to see if you see something that looks like pepper on the sheets and crevices. It would always be a good idea to check anything within 15 ft that is soft.
Protect Your Luggage....
Even though you have inspected the room, bedbugs can still crawl over from neighboring rooms or the cleaning carts. Keep your luggage off the bed, couch, and floor if not tiled. Store it on the luggage rack or shelve. A good rule of thumb if you wanna be extra cautious always bring plastic bags to seal them in.
When Returning....
Upon returning home before bringing your luggage in check it all. Take precaution and very carefully examine the outside of your suitcases as well as everything it contains. Once bedbugs enter your home, it can be very hard to get them out.
